Paestum & Buffalo Mozzarella

Paestum & Buffalo Mozzarella

Awaken your five senses with buffalo mozzarella and discover the jewel of Magna Graecia: Paestum.

I will meet you at your accommodation around 7:00 a.m. and whisk you away for a day in Paestum. During our trip, we’ll admire the beautiful “no-tourists” countryside, and I will provide commentary on the area’s culture, history, and traditions, all while enjoying a comfortable ride.

After a couple of hours, we will arrive at the Vannulo cheese factory, where you’ll take a private tour to learn about the production process, the farm, the leather workshop, and meet the buffaloes. This tour includes a tasting of the finest mozzarella cheese… and when you take your first bite, the unconscious becomes conscious, and you can’t help but wonder: how is it possible to make mozzarella like this?

The unique taste is likely the result of how carefully the 600 buffaloes are treated across 200 hectares of land, eating only organic forage, sleeping on comfortable steam-cleaned mattresses, and being refreshed with warm showers while listening to Mozart.

Be warned: once you taste it, going back to ordinary yogurt will be a challenge.

After a few minutes enjoying this extraordinary experience, we’ll continue to the archaeological site of Paestum, one of the most important settlements of Magna Graecia, where I will introduce you to your official private guide.

Paestum is one of the most intact examples of Italy’s extraordinary wealth of archaeological heritage, a country that for centuries has attracted visitors from all over the world. Your guide will show you the Temple of Ceres, with its light and elegant structure, the Basilica, the oldest temple dedicated to the goddess Hera, and the Temple of Neptune, the most majestic and best preserved of these ruins.

You will find yourself surrounded by the remains of the ancient city: an amphitheater, traces of numerous buildings, and the mighty city walls. The visit will conclude at the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum, which documents the urban life and social transformations of the city.

After exploring the ruins, tired but happy, I will take you back to your accommodation. Feel free to email me for more details and to make the most of this extraordinary day trip.
